Going to college can be one of the most important and beneficial decisions a person can make in one’s life, but does everyone really need to attend college or is it only for certain people? I’ll be the first one to tell you that every person in the world does not need to go to college.
Imagine if everyone went to college, there would be no be no working class citizens i.e. construction workers, electricians, plumbers, air conditioning technicians etc, so there really is much benefit in society for people not to go college and instead learn a trade and contribute in such ways.
If you do decide that you want to learn a trade then going to college is not going to benefit you much in your trade career. What you should be focusing on is getting certified in as many areas in your field as possible ensuring that you are the most qualified candidate for the job.
If you have a career in mind and it doesn’t require college as a prerequisite then there is no need for you to go to college, but should you still go? There are some benefits that being a college graduate gives you other than a career. College graduates compared to non college graduates are automatically perceived to be of a higher class in our society regardless of who makes more money. Graduating from college relays a message that you have put your mind through a rigorous challenge and have successfully completed that challenge.
In conclusion I will say to base college off of your career choice. If you need college for the career you want to pursue then you better go to school. If your interested in a trade then do exactly what will benefit you in that trade and if you find yourself wanting to go to college down the line for your own satisfaction then you should do just that.
One last note. College is not going to teach you how to live life or do anything crucial to surviving so at the end of the day do you need college? NO, but should you go to college? It’s a personal preference that is directly related to the situation you want to be in.
