Philanthropy essentially means ‘The love of humanity’ and Greek life seeks to encourage every member to participate in events that support charitable organizations. This could mean volunteering at a local charity as a group or on one’s own to fundraising for national organizations that benefit the community as a whole. During the spring term the community gathers together for ‘Greek Week’ – a week full of events that help raise money for various charities. Events range to the classic tug-o-war to all night volleyball or a sing-a-thon. Different events occur throughout the week in order to prevent interfering with studies.
