Homecoming Weekend at Princeton University is Like No Other

Last updated on September 25, 2019

College is an incredibly special time in a person’s life. This is because it is the period where you make long-lasting relationships, meet your future colleagues, and decide just what it is you want to contribute to the world. For those who had great times at college, it’s natural to want to try and go back to reconnect with the school that gave you so much.

Princeton University is great at connecting with alumni, hosting plenty of events to stimulate conversation and connection. A great example of this is the upcoming Alumni Tiger Tailgate vs. Harvard, an opportunity for alumni to tailgate at the university and re-live their glory days during another installment in the classic Princeton vs. Harvard rivalry.

However, if you’re someone who hasn’t been to Princeton in years, it’s understandable that you’re not sure where you should stay or what else there is to do nowadays when visiting the area. There are many great options around Princeton, but it is important for you to know which ones are truly worth your time and money. There are still plenty of things you can do in Princeton, New Jersey!

Where to Stay

New Jersey isn’t a terribly expensive state overall, so why not look into hotels near Princeton University? After all, you definitely want to be as close as possible to the action. If you need a hotel that is both affordable and comfortable, the Hyatt Regency Princeton is the most common choice for many visitors to the university.

With a goal of creating a home-like atmosphere while still having the luxuries of a hotel, this hotel is perfect for those needing a place to drop their things before going to tailgate on campus. Gathering at the hotel is also a great option for those who want to schedule activities with fellow alumni before or after the tailgating excitement! With a glass-enclosed heated pool and scenic paths to explore, you’ll never get bored when vacationing at this hotel. For an old (really old) favorite, the Nassau Inn is always a good choice. You’re probably already familiar with this historic hotel that’s been in operation for over 250 years. It’s played host to Paul Revere and Thomas Paine, and it carries the same tradition through to today.

Other Things to Do

As you might remember from your days at the university, Princeton has a lot of different things to do. This is why we recommend that the first thing you do when you get there is to explore your favorite restaurants and activities that you miss from your school days. In the event that you don’t remember just which spots are serving the most delicious food available, we recommend checking out the Bluepoint Grill and Elements for some seriously elegant food. If you just want to kick back and have a slice of pizza, you also can’t do much better than Conte’s Pizzeria!

After you’re done grabbing a bite to eat, why not explore the campus? For example, there will definitely be new exhibitions and pieces that you haven’t seen at the Princeton University Art Museum! If you need a moment to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the campus, you should stop by the campus Chapel.

Those looking to immerse themselves in history should definitely look into the Princeton Battlefield State Park and the Morven Museum and Garden, both accessible options that are close to the university!
